So many people ask about our favorite carriers...so here are a few!

Favorite ring slings to use from birth through toddlerhood

woven wrap ring slings (slings made from woven wrap fabric)

many brands are available, some directly from wrap manufacturers or vendors, and some from vendors who purchase wraps and then convert them to ring slings.
Storchenwiege, DIDYMOS, BBSlen are all available from the manufacturers, as well as from many vendors, both local and online.
Those brands as well as others like Neobulle and Girasol are available as wrap to ring sling conversions, at places such as GranolaBabies.com, KaleaBaby.com and SleepingBabyProductions.net.

double-layer linen ring slings

Sakura Bloom, Kalea, Sleeping Baby Productions are three top names.

Favorite hot weather ring slings

Any of the wrap ring slings or double linen ring slings can work well, even in hot weather, but if you want a sling *just* for the hottest dog days of summer, here are a few cool choices:

woven wrap ring slings, using cooler wraps, such as Vatanai or BBSlen.

single-layer linen ring slings, from Sakura Bloom or KaleaBaby, or SleepingBabyProductions.  not quite as soft as the lighterweight linen used in double linen slings, but still lovely and quite supportive.

organic cotton mesh ring slings by TaylorMade.  these get softer with each use...scrummy for newborns!

gauze wrap ring slings from Wrapsody.com.  beautiful colorways and batiks.

solarveil or solarweave ring slings, although not always easy to find at present, but sometimes still available at SleepingBabyProductions or other vendors.  Not considered an every day sling, as the fabric is not as soft or smooth as other choices, but perfect for a day in the sun or at a splash park.

Favorite gorgeous, lightweight, rock-solid, "feel like a million bucks even with baby drool on your shirt" ring slings:

double layer dupioni silk ring slings, by Sakura Bloom, KaleaBaby, and SleepingBabyProductions, to name a few.  A lovely way to keep your little one close.  Beautiful with blue jeans, elegant for an evening out.  Really nothing else like one!  Surprisingly good in hot weather, although linen probably edges it out for the win.

*Do choose a double layer dupioni, if you choose silk.  Also, know that although dupioni silk is strong and amazingly supportive, it will likely wear out in perhaps a year or less, if used as your primary sling.  Such is the nature of silk.  When the fabric becomes very easy to adjust through the rings and feels even lighter than you originally noticed, keep an eye out for fabric stress points or wear.  If used in a rotation with other slings, a double silk will likely last you a very long time.

Favorite woven wraps to use from birth through toddlerhood

Storchenwiege, Neobulle, Girasol, BBSlen, DIDYMOS, Hoppediz.

If asked to narrow it down even further, a Leo Storchenwiege always wins.  Soft after just one wash and dry, snuggly for a newborn, supportive for a toddler, slightly grippy for back carries, easy care, excellent value.

Storchenwiege, Neobulle, and Girasol win for beautiful colorways and excellent value.  Some people believe that Storch and Neobulle edge out Girasol for support with a super-heavy toddler, while Girasol has a name for being that bit more snuggly with a newborn.  All three are excellent wraps that will serve you well.

DIDYMOS has an astonishing range of colorways and fabric choices, but their wraps are more expensive and typically require a bit more care.

Favorite woven wraps for hot weather

Truly,  the comfort of the best supportive wraps often trumps the wish for a cooler fabric.  Any of the above mentioned woven wraps may be used successfully in warmer weather, particularly if used in single-layer carries.

However, if you want our top picks to use just during the Iowa State Fair...here they are!

BBSlen...lightweight, still very supportive, wide enough and grippy enough for bigger toddlers.

Vatanai...probably the lightest of all the true purpose-woven wraps.  Not as "cushy" as the other wovens listed above.  Lovely and soft for newborn skin.

Wrapsody/GypsyMama gauze or "Breeze" line...so lightweight and beautiful colorways.  Wrap carefully to avoid pressure points with heavy toddlers.  These fold up to almost nothing in a diaper bag.

Favorite Soft Structured Carrier or Asian-inspired Buckle Carrier

Pikkolo, by CatBirdBaby, wins this award.  Beautiful fabric choices, tons of adjustability, including an adjustable body base, to allow better leg and hip positioning for a wider range of ages/sizes.  Available support belt for heavier babies/toddlers.
