babywearing classes at your location
An affordable way to share the learning with a group of friends, daycare providers, grandparents, or others who care for little ones.  Call to schedule a time for a group class at your location.  (rates will vary, please inquire for details.)

While babywearing is becoming more common in Des Moines, the wide variety and price points of carriers often leave parents or caregivers overwhelmed with choices.  Many people still find themselves without a clear idea of how to safely, comfortably, easily keep their little ones close while keeping up with the pace of everyday life.

A typical class will address the normalcy of babywearing, offer a brief look at typical spinal and hip development in an infant and toddler, and clearly explain safe and optimal positioning while babywearing.  At each class, a variety of carriers will be available for learners to view and explore, allowing those learners to go home with a clear idea of how to choose and use the right carrier for their needs.  Both informational classes and hands-on learning classes are available, and babies are warmly welcomed.

hands-on learning classes last at least 90 minutes.  First is a discussion on the normalcy of babywearing, typical spinal and hip development of an infant and toddler, characteristics of a good carrier, and babywearing safety. This is followed by a hands-on session, time set aside to try on different types of carriers and find one that will be comfortable and useful for you and your child.  A weighted teaching doll is available for practicing.
To allow time for individual attention, a maximum of five persons per class, please.

informational classes last at least 60 minutes.  First is a discussion on the normalcy of babywearing, typical spinal and hip development of an infant and toddler, and babywearing safety.  This is followed by a brief demonstration of several carriers and carrying ways.
